If you want to know the age of a cat, then it’s good to consult with a veterinarian. After examining the teeth, eyes, fur, and overall maturity of the cat, and by analyzing the following biological parameters he/she can tell the approximate age of your cat:

  • Teeth: The first indicator is your cat’s teeth. When the kittens get their first set of teeth, they are four months old. If you see that the teeth look white, then you can consider it as one year old. But if the teeth are yellowish, then it means the cat is one year or two years old. The presence of tartar or missing teeth means having an even older cat
  • Cat Eyes: Young cats usually have bright and sparkling eyes. If the eyes have some cloudiness, tearing, or discharge, then it means that the cat is 10 years or more than 10 years old. If the iris of the cat’s eye is a little bit jagged, then it indicates an older cat
  • Cat’s Coat: Over time, the fur of the cat becomes thicker. Meanwhile, the older the cat the thicker the fur will be
  • Cat’s Muscle Tone: The muscle cats are younger but the cats that are bonier and have extra skin are older. When they get age their shoulder bones may get more protruding
